F.A.Q.
What are the nutritional benefits of macadamia nuts?
Macadamia nuts are rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber, yet low in carbs and sugar. They boost healthy monounsaturated fats and are loaded with flavonoids and tocotrienols, antioxidants that safeguard your body against cellular damage and disease.
How is macadamia nut flour made?
Our macadamia nut flour starts with us partially defatting the macadamia nuts with a press. The resulting meal is then milled and sifted into a flour with consistent fat content.
How do I use macadamia nut flour?
Macadamia nut flour is a great substitute for almond flour for baking. It can be used for pancakes, scones, cookies, pie crust, cakes etc., and can be used as breading for frying, as a filler/binder for meatballs/meatloaf (vegan or not), and for making pasta. Macadamia nut flour is great for gluten free baking.
Can I use macadamia nut flour in recipes that call for all-purpose flour? Almond flour?
Yes. You can substitute up to 25% macadamia nut flour for all-purpose flour in many baking recipes. Our goal is to produce macadamia nut flour that can be substituted 100% for almond flour.
Why are macadamia oils different colors?
Macadamia nut oil is typically clear, with a slightly amber color. Roasting can impact the depth of the amber hue. At Kipuka Mills, we use nuts that have been medium roasted, so the amber color may be slightly darker than if we used raw nuts.
What is macadamia oil used for?
Macadamia nut oil can be used in salad dressings, as a marinade, and is great for stir frys. Although there are no hard and fast rules, macadamia nut oil can be used as a substitute for butter when baking, and is also used for roasting, for deep frying, and as a beauty oil.
